Job Description:
Unix Admin for Long Island New York and NYC
Applicants should be team players with a broad background in Unix Administration and have excellent troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to: administering, supporting and troubleshooting the network;
documenting the network and security infrastructure, policies and procedures;
Applicants are expected also to participate in after-hours work and an on-call rotation.
Required Skills:
Experience designing, deploying and supporting scalable routed and switched networks, and security infrastructure.
Understanding of network and routing protocols (TCP/IP, DNS,DHCP, OSPF and BGP).
Experience implementing network and security monitoring and management and related open source tools on UNIX/Linux platforms (mrtg, nagios, snort, flowscan, syslog-ng).
In-depth understanding of network security, including hands-on experience with firewalls, proxies, IDSs and VPNs.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred Skills:
Experience administering Solaris, Linux systems in a corporate environment.
Experience deploying and supporting open source and proprietary infrastructure services (BIND, Sendmail, Postfix, FreeRadius, OpenLDAP,ISC DHCP, NFS, OpenAFS, heimdal Kerberos, Cyrus IMAP, OpenSSL)
Experience with WAN circuits and telecom circuit provisioning (SONET, DWDM, Frame-Relay, DS1, DS3).
Knowledge of scripting (perl, tcl, ksh) to automate tasks.
