Fedora 11 ScreenShots
ScreenShots - Linux Distros

Here we bring you ScreenShots of the Fedora 11 Installation process, as well with some of the apps that Fedora brings. Now I personally have not been a Fedora/RedHat fan for the Desktop environment since RedHat 7.3. After going through the install process and playing around for about 15 minutes, the only thing that I found impressive was how fast Fedora 11 booted. I know I will get flamed for the previous comment but this is my personal opinion.

Do not get me wrong Fedora/RedHat is a great product, for the past 10 years all I have used on the server side is RedHat/CentOS/Fedora and sometimes various flavors of BSD.  Well enjoy the ScreenShots below..

Linux Mint 7 ScreenShots
ScreenShots - Linux Distros
Written by Allen Sanabria

Here we bring you yet another set of Screen Shots, but this time it is of Linux Mint 7 ( Gloria ). Let me start off by saying this... I've been using/managing Linux for almost 11 years now and I want a desktop that just works.. I am so out of that phase on making things work together ( Unless it is programming ). Linux Mint has done that for me, so I really want to say THANK YOU to Linux Mint Staff and Users for all the work you guys have done and for taking the time to make my life easier.

Linux Mints crew never stops to amaze me with the quality of work that they do. The GDM Login Manager theme that comes by default is so CLEAN. The Art Work that comes with Mint is always so eye pleasing. The amount of work that has gone into the MintInstall is amazing. The reason Linux Mint is always on the top 5 of DistroWatch is because of the amount of effort that has gone into making Mint look so clean and easy to use with all the apps that a basic user requires . The Linux Mint crew 1st priority is the user and it reflects in their work. I have been using Linux Mint since the beginning of last year and no matter how many other distro's I try, I always come back to Mint.

Puppy 4.2 ScreenShots
ScreenShots - Linux Distros
Written by Allen Sanabria

This is the first time I ever used Puppy Linux and the interface is really impressive. The install was not as simple as I expected it to be. ( But then again, the Ubuntu based Distro's have spoiled me, what can i say??? :) ). Also this is the first time I used JWM ( Joe Window manager ). What really grasped me about Puppy Linux was how fast the applications launched. Also Puppy Linux reminded me of Slax on how fast the applications loaded, which is a good thing.

My final thoughts on Puppy....

  • Fast to boot and to load applications
  • The installer could have been a bit easier, (meaning Gparted should have been part of the wizard )
  • A wealth of Appz were loaded with Puppet
  • I still prefer Slax

Enjoy the ScreenShots below..

Here is my 3rd installment of the 9.0.4 Beta ScreenShots. My first ScreenShot was Kubuntu and then my 2nd one was Xubuntu. Finally I get to Ubuntu, the reason for Ubuntu being last of the ScreenShots is that it took for ever to download. So with out further ado, please enjoy the ScreenShots below....

Xubuntu 9.0.4 ScreenShots Beta
ScreenShots - Linux Distros

My 2nd set of ScreenShots, this time it is Xubuntu 9.0.4 Beta based on the New Jaunty Jackalope Beta Release of Ubuntu 9.0.4. I absolutely love Xubuntu since it uses the very light and efficient Xfce 4.6. Granted usually I am praising the fancier Ubuntu based distros, but I do love the simpleness and the fast loading of Applications in Xubuntu. Xubuntu also comes with Abiword and Gnumeric, which is the equivalent of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. The other Ubuntu based distro's have been coming with Open Office 2.4 or Open Office 3.0

Please enjoy the ScreenShots below...

Parsix 2.0 ScreenShots
ScreenShots - Linux Distros
Written by Allen Sanabria
Thursday, 26 March 2009 22:03

Parsix is a beautiful OS which is derived off of Kanotix and based off of Debian. The install was quite simple and intuitive, though not as simple as Ubuntu based distributions. What grabbed my attention immediately was the beautiful artwork that was part of the default LiveCD and the Install. Also, the install came with a lot of nice apps that are quite useful, though Parsix was not bloated like some other distributions tend to be.
For instance...

  • IceWeasel (Firefox)
  • Remote Terminal Client ( Access Windows boxes using RDP )
  • Firestarter ( Firewall Configuration Toll )
  • CHM Viewer ( Read CHM Files )
  • Brasero( Burning CD/DVD )
  • VirtualBox ( Create and Use Virtual Machines )
  • etc...
